2026 Eligibility and Fees

Scouts

The 2026 LEAP South Fee for Scouts is $225. We are excited to offer you an amazing range of Adventerous Activities, and due to popular demand all LEAP26-South attendees will receive a “Rebuild the Future” themed short-sleeved shirt 😎

Please note, each Patrol/Group will charge their own fee to cover food and any group expenses. Speak to your home Scout Leader regarding this.

Optional Extras:

    • LEAP Hat – $25.30
    • LEAP Shirt – $35.20
(please note these are the same design as 2024 & 2025)

The eligibility requirements are as follows:

    • Current financial & registered member of Scouts Queensland.
    • Should have attained or be actively working towards OAS Camping Stage 3.
    • Experience camping as a Scout. At least some of the patrol must have enough experience to safely manage a patrol camp (with the support of sub-camp Leaders)
    • Not have had their 15th birthday before 7 July 2026 or have special permission from the LEAP Executive.

All Patrols must have at least one leader attend LEAP26-South with them (a Group/ District/ Region can send two Patrols with the same leader). If you were interested in attending LEAP26-South as a District / Region Patrol NOW is a great time to organise some District/ Region activities with Groups nearby so Scouts and Leaders can get to know each other.

Once applications close, your Scout Leader will coordinate forming Scouts into Patrols and assigning a PL. This needs to happen within 2 weeks of applications closing (i.e. by 31/5/26).

In some cases, there won’t be enough Scouts from a group to form a patrol. We’ll contact those Scouts to help them join a patrol (with a neighbouring group if possible). We need Scout Leader and parent support for this to happen in a timely fashion. Similarly, two weeks will be allowed for this to happen. If a Scout cannot be put in a patrol in that timeframe, they’ll be withdrawn from the camp with a full refund. This is not as a punishment – Scouts that spend weeks struggling to form up a patrol typically don’t have a good camp experience.

Patrol Leaders will be sent an information booklet to help them prepare the patrol for camp. PLs, please work with your patrol members & your Scout Leaders to ensure everyone is well organised for the camp.

This will allow your local Scouts and Leaders to get to know each other. If you are planning on sending a Patrol with members from multiple Units (ie., District/ Region Patrol), we encourge you to reach out to the LEAP26-South team. We’re happy to help facilitate any combined Patrols!

More information regarding the Program will be available shortly.

Yes, Scouts may bring some small amount of money to buy some small snacks, merchanise and items (like woggles, badges etc.) at the theatre.

    How many Scouts per patrol?

A patrol of Scouts for LEAP is between 5 – 8 youth.

Does a Patrol need a Leader onsite?

Yes, all Patrols attending LEAP26-South must have a Leader onsite. A Leader may be responsible for no more than two patrols.

The nominated leader doesn’t need to be from the home group, or even the Scout Section, but they do need to know the Scouts attending the camp. So, if you need to nominate a leader from outside your home Unit, please ensure that they get to know your Scouts before the camp (e.g., come and visit you on a Unit night).  This is important so that they can support the patrol.

    What are Camping Standards?

The purpose of the standard is to provide minimum guidelines for Scouts and Leaders in the planning and conduct of Scout camps. The principles of this standard should be applied to all Scout camping.

The Camping Standards can be located here.

Can home Leaders assist their Patrols?

No, home Leaders are unable to assist their Patrols during LEAP. We have a experienced team of Sub Camp Leaders who are there to assist and guide the Patrols from setup right through to packup. Sub Camp Leaders will contact the onsite contact if needed.

Can the home Leader visit their Patrols?

Yes, home Leaders are able to visit their Patrols at appriopriate times. Please checkin with their Sub Camp Leaders when the best time for visiting is, and always sign in and out.

    Arrival

Patrols will be allocated an arrival time – likely either 10am or 11am on July 3rd.  Please endeavour to arrive close to your nominated time as that helps with traffic management around the site.  Only vehicles with large items of camping gear (trailers, utes), will be permitted to drive to the camping area.  All other vehicles must unload in the unloading area, and the Scouts will carry their personal gear to camp.  Parents, please note that this is a drop-and-go situation, we don’t have the space for you to leave your car and assist the Scouts.

    Departure

The camp finishes on Tuesday morning.  Each patrol will be packing up their own campsite – some will be quick, and others will take longer.  Please coordinate with your home Scout leader for a pick-up time.

Parents, please don’t arrive early – this just clutters the site up.   Note that no-one will be allowed on site prior to 1030.

Upon arrival, you will be directed where to park and then walk to a designated waiting area.  Even if you are picking up the trailer, you need to wait until the Scouts are ready for you.

Does a Patrol need a Leader onsite?

Each patrol needs to have a nominated responsible Scout Leader on the camp. Whilst the Sub Camp Leaders will be the main point of contact, this nominated Leader is critical to provide support in resolving any issues that arise.

The nominated Leader doesn’t need to be from the home group, or even the Scout Section, but they do need to know the Scouts attending the camp. So if you need to nominate a Leader from outside your home Unit, please ensure that they get to know your Scouts before the camp (e.g. come and visit you on a Unit night). This is important so that they can support the patrol.

Any nominated Leader can only be assigned to two patrols, so that they aren’t overloaded.

    Leader Swaps

If you need to swap with another leader during LEAP, please email us as soon as possible to discuss options.

What if I don’t have enough Scouts to form a Patrol?

In some cases, there won’t be enough Scouts from a group to form a patrol.  We encourage you to be planning District/ Region activities NOW. This will allow your local Scouts and Leaders to get to know each other. If you are planning on sending a Patrol with members from multiple Units (ie., District/ Region Patrol), we encourge you to reach out to the LEAP26-South team. We’re happy to help facilitate any combined Patrols!

Those who require power for CPAP machines or similar, please email southerncamp.leapsouth@scoutsqld.au so we can ensure you have power access and make sure that your Medical Information is up to date on your application.

What is the role of a Venturer Scout at LEAP South?

Venturer Scouts at LEAP South are Service Leaders. They will help with a range of areas including Program, Catering and other areas of camp.

Where do Venturer Scouts eat and camp?

Venturer Scouts will be allocated to their own Venturer Sub Camp with a dedicated team of adult Leaders. They will also eat with the other Service Leaders in a central catering space. Venturer Scouts will need to provide their own camping gear, such as tents and personal sleeping equipment. A Venturer Subcamp shelter will be provided for all Venturers to use.

    Mobile Phones

Venturers will be allowed their mobile phones on camp. Scouts, however, are not, so out of courtesy, we ask that you do not use your phones whilst around the Scouts.

All Scouts and Venturers have the right to feel safe and be safe. Program

More information surrounding the Program for LEAP South 2026 will be available soon and continued to be added as confirmed.

The world needs heroes who can think fast, climb high, and trust their team. After a massive global event, the Earth is ready for a comeback—and so are you. This is your chance to train like the next generation of rebuilders.

🧗 Climbing Wall: Conquer the Heights

Every great rebuilder needs courage, balance, and the ability to keep going even when the path gets tough. On the climbing wall, you’ll learn how to plan your route, trust your instincts, and push past your limits. These are the same skills future engineers, explorers, and leaders will use to rebuild cities and shape new worlds.

🪜 Crate Stacking: Build Higher, Think Smarter

Stacking crates isn’t just fun—it’s a test of strategy, teamwork, and steady nerves. You’ll build towering structures while suspended in the air, learning how to stay calm, communicate clearly, and solve problems on the fly. Exactly the kind of thinking Earth’s future needs.

    🧗‍♂️ Abseiling: Take the Leap

Lowering yourself down a vertical wall might sound wild, but it’s all about trust—trust in your gear, your guide, and yourself.
